The champion of "Towngas Young Master Chef 2012" (煤氣少年廚藝精英賽2012), Vanessa Tsui (F.5S) has finished her culinary course at Le Cordon Bleu Paris and is now back to Hong Kong. Below is her sharing:

My Cooking Course at Le Cordon Bleu, Paris

Last summer, under my parents and the school’s encouragement, I participated in the Towngas Young Master Chef Cooking Competition and won the championship. The prize was a trip to Paris and a cuilinary course in the world’s most famous culiniary school – Le Cordon Bleu, Paris.

During Christmas holidays, I spent a week in Paris attending cuilinary course about Patisserie and French cuisine. I also visited the famous Effiel Tower, the Lourve and the Cathedral Notre Dame. The cooking course lasted for 3 days, and each lesson lasted for six hours. The lessons were conducted privately by the famous chefs in Le Cordon Bleu. They were divided into two sessions, with patisserie on the first day, and French cuisine on the second and third days. I had learnt famous dishes, like macaron framboise and Galette des Rois (King’s Cake), oxtail parmentier and roast duck breast, and many other dishes. Although it was exhausting and demanding, I was so glad to have this experience to be trained up at Le Cordon Bleu Paris and a chance of being inspired by the sharings of the famous chefs on their success in cuilinary art. After this paris trip, I have gained some tips and special techniques on selecting and handling ingredients, cooking and presenting food.

Last of all, I have to thank St. Paul’s Convent School, the Home Economics teacher and my parents for their support and encouragement during the cooking competition. I treasure all I had learnt and experienced in Paris, and will definitely share my passion in cooking with my friends and family.
