Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2016/17 Appointment and Awards Ceremony
  From over 450 nominations, 11 Paulinians were selected to participate in an intensive training programme on service skills and concepts under the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme jointly organized by the Tourism Commission of the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. 31st China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest
  Some Paulinians participated in the 31st China Adolescents Science and Technology Invention Contest held in Shanghai from 13 to 19 August, 2016. 347 individual and team projects were involved in the competition. In the category of Chemistry, Polly Tsang of F.5A presented her project “Lab Made Paint Reinvented!” and her booth attracted a great crowd in the Open Exhibition. 緣聚國科大,共築科學夢
  2016年7月16日至22日,我校十名中五級學生與來自全國各地的兩千多名高中生匯聚北京,參加了由中國科學技術協會與教育部共同主辦的「青少年高校科學營」活動。同學們帶?科學夢、青春夢來到中國科學院大學,參觀國家科研所、重點實驗室、動物博物館,吸收前沿科學知識;聆聽專家學者講座,了解祖國科技發展的輝煌成就;走進國家大劇院,感受頂級藝術殿堂的無窮魅力;暢遊科學技術館,享用豐富的科普資源。為期七天的科學之旅讓同學們擴闊了視野,增長了見識,收獲了友誼。 Click here for more information.

Form One Bridging Course 2016
  To prepare the new Form one students (2016-17) for a smooth transition from the primary to secondary school learning, the school has organized a Bridging Course from 11 -22 July 2016. In first week, students took Chinese, Mathematics and ICT lessons. In the second week, they attended an English Immersion Course organized by the Wofoo Social Enterprises and supported by HKSAR Education Bureau. This programme emphasized spoken English through an interactive and fun-packed activity-based curriculum. Click here for more information.

Youth Energy Saving Award
  10 members of the conservancy club participated in the Youth Energy Saving Award held by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of Hong Kong. The team has obtained the Gold award on 8th July 2016. The team members are Serene Yik of F.4S, Stephanie Wong of F.4T, Christie Li of F.5T, Joyce Yan of F.5A, Carmen Leung, Flora Li, Jamie Chan, Heidi Suen and Katie Ling of F.5U and Vinci Chan of F.5L. Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies International Institutes Youth Program - Program Date: 6 July 2016 – 17 July 2016
  The Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies International Institutes summer program was yet another successful academic and recreational summer camp for our Form 3 SPCS students. Talk on Healthy Diet
  On 6th July, we are honored to have Ms. Kelly Ho, from Hong Kong Eating Disorder Association Limited, delivered a talk to our F.1 to F.3 students on “Healthy Diet”. Ms. Ho introduced us about eating disorders, how slimming culture impacts on one’s self-mage, unhealthy dieting behavior and the importance of balanced diet. We hoped that through the talk, students would be able to think critically about the slimming culture and to establish a more positive self-image. Click here for more information.

HKUST Engineering Design Experience Workshop: Airship
  From 4th-7th July 2016, twenty students from S3, S4 and S5 took part in the ‘Engineering Design Experience Workshop: Airship’ which was organized by the School of Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Not only did this 4-day programme at HKUST enhance our students’ understanding of Engineering, but it also emphasized the importance of innovation and problem solving for the betterment of human life. Christ Church, Oxford University Study Tour 2016
  This year from July 3rd to 16th 40 students and 5 teachers went to Christ Church, one of the most world-renowned colleges at Oxford University in the U.K. This summer school programme was designed specifically for our students and contained two academic-focus subject strands: the Science Focus which explored Biology, Medicine, Chemistry and Computational Thinking, and the Humanities Focus which comprised of Economics, Finance, Politics and International Relations. Brescia GirlsLEAD leadership training programme 2016
  On 2nd July 2016, 48 Form 3 students set off for London, Ontario, Canada to attend a two-week leadership camp at Brescia University College. The programme was meticulously planned to fit in various activities and outings that provided us with ample opportunity to hone our leadership qualities. Each day is set around a meaningful theme, such as “Knowing Myself”, “Confidence& Self-Esteem,”, “Understanding Differences”, “Teamwork”, “Setting Goals”, etc. The objective of each day was to let us learn something new or to improve on prior knowledge. The entire two-week programme is designed with three tiers, which allows us to develop our leadership skills step-by-step. Click here for more information.

Talk on Etiquette
  On 4th July, we are honored to have Ms. Pamela Lee, an etiquette coach and a member of SPCS alumni, to come and deliver a talk to our F.1 to F.5 students on “Ettitique”. Ms. Lee introduced our students proper etiquette and how to communicate with friends, family members, teachers, instructors, coaches and interviewers. Students enjoyed the talk and found value in learning the etiquette, life skills and communication skills necessary for them to graduate to adulthood and live successful lives. Study Tour to Spain 2nd – 16th July 2016
  This year 45 students from Forms 1, 2 & 3 took part in a study and cultural tour to Avila, Spain. In the mornings, the students had 4 hours of Spanish lessons at the University of Salamanca, Avila Campus. They were divided into 3 levels based on ability and aptitude. The lessons consisted of 2 hours of Spanish Language, 1 hour of Communication and 1 hour of Spanish Culture. Click here for more information.

Immersion Programme to France (2nd July 2016)
  On the 2nd of July, 34 students and 4 teachers took the plane and set off for France for the French Immersion Programme to Saint Denis International School in Loches, France. When we arrived at Paris, we then took a coach which was already waiting and headed off to the school. The journey took about 4 hours. The students were all tired but excited. F.4 Career Workshop
  On 28th June, 2016, all Form 4 students attended a workshop organized by the school’s Careers Team. The workshop was designed according to “Career Mapping”, a booklet given to the students as a career development tool. Through talks and discussions, students were able to identify careers of their choice as well as their work values. They also learnt how to set short term and long term goals and ways to implement their action plans. Furthermore, the workshop enabled the students to discover and explore their Holland Codes, which not only gave them a better understanding of their strengths but also enabled them to match their personalities with their career choices. Mathematics Book Report Competition (2015-16)
  The 16th Macau Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships, organized by the Swimming Association of Macau, China, was held from 27th -29th May, 2016 at the Aquatic Center of Olympic Sports Centre, Macau. How to Improve Students’ Technical Writing Skills
  PDS Seminar 5 on “How to Improve Students’ Technical Writing Skills” was held on Tuesday, 31st May 2016, from 2:15 - 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Convent School. Ten participants, including five teachers from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College, one teacher from Law Ting Pong Secondary School, one representative from the EDB and three staff members from our school, attended the seminar. The 2016 Harvard Book Prize
  The 2016 Harvard Book Prize Award Ceremony was held at La Salle College on 27th May. Tina Ip of F.5A was the winner while Qianna Chung of F.5T and Polly Tsang of F.5A were the runners-up. Selected for their academic and personal excellence, winners were presented certificates and books published by Harvard University. The theme of the Award Ceremony was creativity and Bro. Steve Hogan, Principal of La Salle College, gave a speech encouraging students in Hong Kong to “think out of the box”. Click here for more information.

The Dress Causal Day 2015 Cheque and Award Presentation Ceremony
  The Dress Causal Day 2015 Cheque and Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 23rd May 2016. Our school was honoured to obtain the Highest Participation Rate Award in the Educational Category of Dress Casual Day held in October 2015 and we received a trophy and a Certificate of Appreciation. Without doubt, the generosity and participation of our Principal, staff members and students made the event such a great success. 14th Guangdong Adolescents Children Inventions Award Competition
  The Final Judging of the 14th Guangdong Adolescents Children Inventions Award Competition (第十四屆「廣東省少年兒童發明獎」) was successfully held in Guangzhou, from 20 to 22 May 2016. Over four hundred finalists were selected from Hong Kong, Macau and cities of Guangdong province to participate the competition. They were judged on a project presentation and demonstration. Cindy Jiang and Kelly Cheng of F.3S won the Hong Kong and Macau Special Award with their project entitled "New Spin on an Alternative Method of Powering Ships". 2015-2016 Project Competition for Community Service
  The Community Youth Club joined the 2015-2016 Project Competition for Community Service and have received the Gold Award in Wanchai District for the Secondary Section on 18th May 2016. Click here for more information.

EITP F.1 Recruitment Day
  The EITP F.1 Recruitment Day was held successfully on 18th May 2016. The programme began with the sharing of teachers and students of the EITP. Then, it was the showcase of Scratch programs, Mobile Apps, Digital games, Web design, Robotics, Augmented Reality and Nao the robot. All F.1 was looking forward to joining the EITP next year while the F.2 members enjoyed themselves as helpers and tutors. Click here for more information.

A.S. Watson Group HK Student Sports Award 2015-2016
  Joey Yip of F.5A received the A.S. Watson Group HK Student Sports Award 2015-2016 for her remarkable performance in sports. She also received HKD 500 and a SSA certificate for being an outstanding student athlete in Hong Kong. This award aims to encourage young students to continue to participate fully in sports activities and strive for further excellence. Demonstration & Experiment on Soap-making
  PDS Seminar 4 on ‘Demonstration & Experiment on Soap-making’ was held on Friday, 13th May 2016, from 2:15 - 4:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Convent School. Twenty-one participants, including eight teachers from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College, three teachers and eight students from Law Ting Pong Secondary School and two staff members from our school, attended the seminar. EITP visits in May
  On 11th May some EITP students visited Madhead Studio as part of the game design learning module. Madhead is a local startup business famous for its mobile game “Tower of Savior”. In the visit, we learnt of the various roles in game development process. The CEO, Mr. Terry Tsang, shared with us his experience in innovation and his vision in technology. Annual Swimming Gala
  Our annual Swimming Gala was held at Victoria Park swimming pool on 12th May, 2016. It was an enjoyable experience for everyone, including swimmers, spectators, cheerleaders and officials. Inter-School Table Tennis Competition
  The Prize Presentation Ceremony of the Inter-School Table Tennis Competition, organized by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation, was held at True Light Girls’ College on 11th May, 2016. Our A Grade team won the 2nd Runner-up prize and the team members were Ruby Yeung of F.6P, Casey Tan of F.6L, Joey Yip of F.5A, Venus Cheng of F.5A and Muskaan Chandani of F.4U.   The All H.K. Schools Jing Ying Badminton (Team) Tournament 2015-2016, organized by the Hong Kong School Sports Federation and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, was held at Tseung Kwan O Sports Centre on 1st May, 2016. Our school's badminton team was the 3rd Runner-up. Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools (2015-16)
  The final round of Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools 2016, organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education, Hong Kong Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry and the Education Bureau, was held on 30th April, 2016. Tina Ip, Jennifer Mak and Polly Tsang of F.5A and Kelly Yip and Dilys Yeung of F.5P presented their project “Lab Made Paint Reinvented!”. They won the honour award in the competition, receiving a plague, certificates and souvenirs. Click here for more information.

“Digichem” Video Production Competition for Hong Kong Secondary Schools 2016
  The Prize-giving Ceremony of the “Digichem” Video Production Competition for Hong Kong Secondary Schools 2016, organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education, was successfully held on 30th April, 2016. Two teams of students participated in the competition and produced their videos titled "Polylactic acid – Powerful Laundering Agent" and "Lab Made Paint Reinvented!". Summer Chan, Rachel Lam and Rachel Mak of F.3S won the Champion in the junior secondary division while Tina Ip of F.5A and Dilys Yeung of F.5P won the Champion in the senior secondary division. Visitors from the EDB
  On 28th April 2016, we were honoured to have Mrs. Hong Chan Tsui Wah (Deputy Secretary for Education, EDB) and Ms. Amy Cheng Mee Yee (Senior Education Officer, EDB) visit our school. We discussed the academic curriculum, the implementation of education reforms and the execution of STEM. The visit ended with a tour of our school campus. Poverty Simulation Workshop
  On 26th April 2016, 180 of our Form 3 students participated in a Poverty Simulation Workshop organized by Junior Chamber International HK (JCI HK) and Hong Kong United Foundation Ltd. Fifty of our prefects served as helpers to facilitate the smooth running of the workshop and ran more than 10 booths together with JCI members. The workshop enabled our students to experience poverty via a simulation game. They were divided into small groups that resembled poor families in Hong Kong and they had to visit various booths to perform different tasks in a simulation of the lives that many of the poorest people in Hong Kong have to follow. 第十六屆全港學界普通話傳藝比賽
  在2016年4月24日由普通話教師學會舉辦的全港學界普通話傳藝比賽中,中三施班的于甜同學榮獲第十六屆初中組散文獨誦冠軍,詩歌獨誦季軍;中二保班的李芷欣同學榮獲第十六屆初中組詩歌獨誦亞軍和散文獨誦季軍。她們用聲音演繹精彩的文字,傳達人性的美好。 Click here for more information.

The Inter-School Badminton Competition (C Grade) Finals
  The Inter-School Badminton Competition (C Grade) Finals, organized by the Hong Kong School Sports Federation, was held at Chai Wan Sports Centre on 23rd April, 2016. Our school’s badminton team was the 2nd Runner-up. The team members were Christie Maw of F.2S, Cindy Yeung of F.2T, Emma Tsang of F.2P, Athena Lee of F.2U, Sarah Ho of F.1T, Charmaine Chan and Victoria Tsui of F.1L. In the school year 2015-2016, our B Grade team won the Championship while our A and C Grade teams won the 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up prizes respectively, in the Inter-school Badminton Competition. St. Patrick’s Cup Debating Competition
  On 22nd April, 2016, Alison Chan of F.5L, Stephanie Ng of F.5A and Grace Lam of F.5U took part in the St. Patrick’s Cup Debating Competition, organized by the Consulate General of Ireland (Hong Kong and Macau). The motion for the debate was ‘This house believes that Hong Kong and Ireland should do more to protect their native languages and heritage’.   The 2016 Synchronized Swimming Australian Open and Age Group Championships, organized by the Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association, was held from 9-12 April, 2016 at HBF Stadium in Perth, Australia. UNESCO Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration at Science Park
  18 Student Peace Ambassadors from our school participated in the Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration on 9th April 2016 at Science Park. The event was organized by UNESCO Hong Kong to promote peace and cultural diversity. At the country booth exhibition and games area, our students chose to present the theme of ‘The Wonders and Characteristics of Popular Chinese Cultural Art: Paper Folding and Juggling (Rolling Plates, Chinese Yoyo and Twisting Balloon)’. The 52nd Hong Kong Schools Dance Festival (2015-2016)
  The 52nd Hong Kong Schools Dance Festival (2015-2016), jointly organised by the Hong Kong Schools Dance Association Limited and the Education Bureau, is an annual Inter-school competition that aims to promote dance education in Hong Kong schools. Our school's dance team, comprising the Chinese, Modern, Western and Oriental Dance teams, achieved brilliant results in this year's competition, with a total of 7 Honours Awards and 3 Highly Commended Awards.   On 2nd April, 2016, Paulinians from both junior and senior forms participated in the Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition 2015-2016 organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association Science Innovation Centre. In the Research and Invention Category, Jennifer Mak and Polly Tsang of F.5A and Kelly Yip of F.5P received the 2nd Place Award with their project “Lab Made Paint Reinvented!” in the senior division. 清華大學中國文化與普通話課程
  從早春二月到暮春四月,從殘雪未融到春花爛漫,我校中二級同學在老師的帶領下,分三批前往北京,圓滿完成了清華大學舉辦的中國文化與普通話課程。同學們在勤練普通話發音,學習文化技藝,感受傳統文化魅力之餘,還參觀了金碧輝煌的故宮、氣勢宏偉的天壇、巍峨雄偉的長城等。他們緬懷抗日先烈,憑弔圓明園遺址;穿行於曲折的胡同,作客在精緻的四合院;體會歷史的滄桑,了解今天的發展,堅定未來的信心。在為期十天的課程中,同學們自尊自信、自立自律,充分展現了保祿人的青春風采。 Click here for more information.

2015-16 Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award
  Tina Ip of F. 5A won the “2015 – 2016 Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award”, organized by the Youth Arch Foundation. She was one of the nine awardees who were selected out of 400 candidates from 120 secondary schools in Hong Kong. Tina was chosen for being an all-round student of good character, with outstanding academic achievements, active participation in extra-curricular activities and devotion to community service. Annual Inter-Class Dance Competition 2015-2016 on 21st March, 2016
  The Annual Inter-Class Dance Competition was successfully held on 21st March, 2016. There were a total of 30 classes joining the event. Students performed various types of dance, ranging from Chinese to Pop. Every dancer had truly shown her passion and enthusiasm on stage. At last, F.4S won the Choreography and Overall Champion Award. The event was surely a memorable experience for all Paulinians. Click here for more information.

Joint School Orchestra Competition
  The SPCS Symphony Orchestra has participated in the Joint School Music Competition 2016 organized by the Hong Kong Joint School Music Association on 21 March 2016. They attained Distinction (96 marks) in the Secondary School Symphony Orchestra section and were awarded a Gold Trophy. Click here for more information.

68th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival
  Several students received excellent results in the 68th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival organized by the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association was held from 22th February to 23th March, 2016. Sarah Chow of F.1P participated in the Graded Piano Solo Grade 6 and was awarded the 2nd place with 91 marks. Joyce Lee of F.1P participated in the Vocal Solo-Chinese-Female Voice Secondary School-Age 14 or under and was awarded the 2nd place with 84 marks. Click here for more information.

British Council Teacher Training
  On 21 March 2016, a group of teachers from St. Paul’s Convent School attended a teacher development session as part of the 'Developing English Language Skills Through Integration of Tablets at Junior Secondary Level' project. The training session was based on 'Using iPads in the Classroom' and it was led by Ms. Alison Wood from the British Council. The aims of the session were to explore different apps that students could use in the classroom as well as focusing on improving 21st-century learning by improving student collaboration, communication, creativity and critical-thinking skills. 2016 Hong Kong Inter-School Mock Trial Championship
  On 19th and 20th March, 12 SPCS students took part in the 2016 Hong Kong Inter-School Mock Trial Championship, which was held at The University of Hong Kong. They included Rita Kan (4S), Vanessa Li (4T), Andrea So (4T), Vicky Chiu (4U), Joyce Ho (5S), Jaymie Wong (5A), Helen Chui (5U), Leanne Hong (5U), Grace Lam (5U), Patricia Ricafort (5U), Alison Chan (5L) and Riley Tsoi (5L). Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2016
  The award presentation ceremony of the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2016 jointly organised by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong Science Museum, and sponsored by the Innovation and Technology Commission as well as Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation was successfully held on 19th March 2016. 14th CILTHK writing competition
  Recently, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Hong Kong, held its14th CILTHK Essay Competition. The topic for the Junior Group was 'What can we do to improve road safety?' while that for the Senior Group was 'My proposal for new transport mode(s) in the Kai Tak New Development Area.' Annual Sports Day 2016
  The Annual Sports Day was held successfully at the Wan Chai Sports Ground on 17th March, 2016. The weather was fine and we all enjoyed ourselves enormously. All classes demonstrated their spirit by taking part in various events and cheering competition. The atmosphere was exciting and team spirit was fully being demonstrated. We were very glad to have Professor Reggie Kwan, President of Caritas Institute of Higher Education, to be our guest of honour. Special thanks must be given to all the parents for their warm support. EITP Outing: Innovation through Banking Technology
  On Wednesday 16th March 2016, a group of students from the Enriched Information Technology Programme were invited to visit the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Innovation Lab in One Exchange Square, Central. Sir Edward Youde Memorial Awards
  The 29th Awards Presentation Ceremony of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund was held on 13th March 2016. Eunice Yiu of F.6P obtained the SEY Memorial Prize as well as HK$1000 for her outstanding academic achievements, leadership, active participation in extra-curricular activities and devotion to community service. In addition, Seraph Wu, who graduated from our school in 2015, was awarded the SEY Memorial Medal. She also received a cash award of HK$5000 for her outstanding performance in the 2015 HKDSE. SCMP Student of the Year Awards 2015 2015-2016
  Jamie Tsang of F.6U won the Student of the Year Scientist & Mathematician award at the 35th Student of the Year Competition 2015 jointly organized by South China Morning Post and Hong Kong Jockey Club. Judges praised Jamie for her passion for scientific research and her dedication to science-related community service. In addition, Tina Ip of F.5A received an honorable mention as she was one of the top 12 finalists in both the Grand Prize and the Sportsperson categories. The Student of the Year award presentation ceremony was held at the Kowloon Shangri-La hotel on 12th March 2016 and Jamie was awarded a scholarship of HK$10,000 for her achievements. Scholarship winner of the Dennis and Anne Beaver Foundation of Excellence
  Muskaan Chandani of 4U won a scholarship offered by the Dennis and Anne Beaver Foundation of Excellence recently. This scholarship is usually given to students in the university and it is the first time secondary school students are invited to apply. Muskaan was the youngest candidate. She had to sit for a written test, an oral test and a panel interview conducted by 9 people. Mr Beaver, the sponsor, was impressed by her high standard of French, commenting that she is even better than university students. The prize presentation ceremony took place on 5th March. Muskaan was awarded a one-month stay in France with a French family, a return air plane ticket to and from France, and tuition fees which amounts to about 40,000 Hong Kong dollars. Congratulations!   Our Paulinians participated in the Drawing Competition organized by the Causeway Bay Kai-Fong Welfare Advancement Association. Audrey Wong of F.1T won the Champion and 6 more Paulinians obtained Outstanding Awards, who are Jade Ngan of F.2T, Christine Lam of F.2L, Gigi Cheng of F.1T, Alice Chan of F.1P, Coco Shin of F.1A and Pallas Lo of F.1U. 2015 Wan Chai District Outstanding Youth Selection
  Miffy Young of F.4S was one of the ten young persons selected by the Wan Chai District Youth Programme Committee for the Wan Chai District Outstanding Youth 2015 (Secondary School). Miffy was judged on her academic performance, sports achievements, leadership, special talents and participation in community service. The 16th Lions International Youth Exchange Scholarship Essay Competition
  Our students achieved excellent results in the 16th Lions International Youth Exchange Scholarship Essay Competition on the theme: "ONE BELT ONE ROAD" DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE: Challenges to Environment or Opportunities for Sustainable Development. Tina Ip of F.5A won the Champion prize, obtaining a full exchange scholarship of a total amount of HKD15,000. Alison Chan of F.5L and Kelly Yip of F.5P were among the finalists and each obtained a Certificate of Merit. The competition was rigorous. After submitting their essays, our students had to go through a round of group interviews, before presenting their essays to the public in the shopping arcade in East Point City, Tseung Kwan O on 27th February 2016. In Memoriam - Mrs. Aida Choy
  The Requiem Mass for Mrs. Aida Choy, a former English teacher of SPCS, was conducted by Rev. Fr. John Russell in Christ the King Chapel, at 7.30 a.m. on 26th February 2016. Attended by many current and former teachers, students as well as Mrs. Choy’s family members, the ceremony began with Mr. Neil Maxwell providing a brief summary of Mrs. Choy’s dedicated service to the school (1990-1995 & 1998-2014). Subsequently, Miss Angelina Yip, a close friend and colleague of Mrs. Choy’s, shared her poignant memories of Mrs. Choy with everyone, reminding them of her strong Christian values and faith and the high standards she had set in the education of young people. At the end of the ceremony, Fr. Russell led the assembly in taking the three customary bows, which marked the high esteem in which Mrs. Choy’s life and work are held by the staff and students of SPCS. SPCS Europe Music Tour (10 – 20 February 2016)
  The SPCS Europe Music Tour 2016 was organized for the Symphony Orchestra and Junior Choir members ranging from Forms 1 to 5 during the Chinese New Year holiday. We had the invaluable opportunities to visit Vienna in Austria, Brno and Prague in Czech Republic and Berlin in Germany this year.The highlight of this music tour was our time spent in Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, Czech Republic. All students attended small-group master classes with professional musicians and teachers. While the choir members were taking interactive voice lessons and learning Czech folk songs, the Symphony Orchestra members were given a chance to polish their performance skills with different masters.   Kelly Pun from F.5T and Priscilla Tam from 6S participated in the 救世軍新界西綜合服務「MY Idea社會設計師培育計劃」Social Design o拿!賣 IDEA意念設計比賽 on 6th February, 2016 and obtained excellent results. In the Group event, Kelly and Priscilla won the 2nd runner up with their project entitled “Tech Tra Couple” They received a trophy, a certificate and Muji coupon of $300.   Jacqueline Mao of F.4P participated in the Hong Kong Music Talent Contest 2016 Piano Competition organized by the Wishing Star Education Limited on 31st January and obtained the first prize. She was awarded a trophy and a certificate. Besides, she also participated in Asia Pacific Outstanding Youth Piano Competition organized by the HKMFY on the 31st January 2016. Microsoft YouthSpark Day Camp
  On 9th January 2016, 29 students involved in the Enriched IT Programme, visited the offices of Microsoft in Cyberport to participate in the Microsoft YouthSpark Day Camp. They had the rare opportunity to take a tour of Microsoft's newly renovated high-tech office and meet some of the company’s employees, who briefed them on Microsoft’s latest innovations, such as the Skype Translator and Microsoft HoloLens.   Jenny Kong of F.1T participated in the Parsons Music Festival Wilh Steinberg Piano Competition in September, 2015 and won the 1st place in the senior group. She was awarded the 1st prize in the Trinity College London ATCL Recital Group. She got a trophy and a certificate.   Alvina Yang of F.3L participated in the 7th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition organized by the Steinway Piano Asia Pacific Co., Ltd in December, 2015 in Ningbo, China. She represented the Hong Kong and Macau region for the Amateur Class C and competed with contestants from 35 cities and provinces in China.   On 19th December, 2015, Paulinians from both junior and senior forms attended the prize presentation ceremony of 小科學家科技發明/創意比賽2014-2015 organized by Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology. Karen Li of F.5T and Flora Li of F.5U received the 1st Place Award with their project “Handy Walking Cane”. Besides, they won the 2nd Place Award with their project “Smart Box”. French Speech Competition 2015 Prose Reading
  On Friday, November 27th, 17 students from Forms 1 to 5 took part in the Prose Reading section of the Hong Kong French Speech Competition and the results were excellent. In the Form 1 section, Serena Lam of 1A came 2nd and Zehra Ceyhan and Omeet Kaur also of 1A were joint 3rd. In Form 2, Simran Thadani of 2A was 2nd, while Trinna De Guzman and Monique Limbaga of 2A were joint 3rd. In the Form 3 competition, Zeynep Ceyhan of 3P was the winner with Trisha De Guzman also of 3P coming second.   On Friday November 21st, it was the turn of the Form 5 students at the 6th Hong Kong French Speech Competition. School Talk by Professor Deborah Chung – My Life with Science
  On 20th November, 2015, we were very honoured to have Professor Deborah Chung from State University of New York at Buffalo give an invigorating talk to some of our F5 and F6 students about “My Life with Science”. Professor Chung is an esteemed scientist, researcher and author with a B.S. degree in Engineering and Applied Science and an M.S. degree in Engineering Science from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) as well as a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).   From 18th to 25th November 2015, twelve SPCS students proudly represented their school and country in the annual Empire Mock Trial in San Francisco, USA. French Speech Competition 2015
  On Friday November 13th, students from SPCS continued their outstanding performance at the 6th Hong Kong French Speech Competition. This time it was the turn of Forms 3 and 4 and the results were excellent. In the Form 3 section, Trisha De Guzman and Zeynep Ceyhan of 3P came 2nd and Jocelin Kee, also of 3P, was placed 3rd. Furthermore, Trisha received an amazing 99 marks out of 100! In the Form 4 section, Muskaan Chandani of 4U was the winner and the judges praised her sensitive delivery of the poem. URA Mobile Exhibition Van
  On 12th November, an interactive mobile van from the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) visited our school. Students had the opportunity to learn about the process of urban renewal via a series of interactive displays, educational games and quizzes. Enriched IT Programme Launch Ceremony
  The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer launched the Enriched Information Technology Programme (EITP) in 8 secondary schools in Hong Kong to cultivate young IT talents to meet the development needs of a digital society. The launch ceremony took place on 7th November 2015 with Financial Secretary, Mr. John Tsang, as the officiating guest. Over 300 secondary school students attended the ceremony, pledging their full commitment to enhance their knowledge and skills in IT through project-based learning and competitions. Workshop by Professor Gary Antonick from Stanford University
  On 5th and 6th November 2015, Professor Gary Antonick from Stanford University hosted a workshop on Creativity and Innovation at our school. This 2-day workshop introduced an innovative tool called Design Thinking, which was popularised by Stanford Design School, and emphasized an understanding of customer needs and rapid product development, with arts-and crafts type of materials. French Speech Competition 2015
  On Friday, November 6th 2015, several Form 1 and 2 students took part in the annual French Speech Competition, with excellent results. In the Form 1 Poetry section, three students from Form 1A took the top three places. They were Serena Lam in first place, Prabhsharan Kaur in 2nd place and Natalie Kwong in 3rd place. In the Form 2 Poetry competition, our Form 2A students swept the board, with Maria Guzman in 1st place, Trinna De Guzman in 2nd place and Monique Limbaga in 3rd place.   On 1st November 2015, Joey Man from F. 5L, Natalie Fung from F. 4U and Daisy Chan from F. 3U participated in Hong Kong Electric Home Management Centre -- Hong Kong Secondary Student Cooking Competition 2015. 15th Awarding Program for Future Scientists
  The Final Judging of the 15th Awarding Program for Future Scientists (第十五屆「明天小小科學家」獎勵活動) was successfully held in Beijing, from 20 to 27 October 2015. One hundred finalists were selected from 719 representatives from 23 provinces, cities and autonomous regions of China. They were judged on a written test on scientific knowledge, an integrated assessment on personal quality and a project presentation. Jaime Tsang of F.6U won the 2nd Place Award with her project entitled "Homemade pastel". She received a medal, a certificate and a scholarship of RMB ¥10,000.   PDS Seminar 1 on ‘The Wonders of Micro Algae with Demonstration’ was held on Saturday, 31st October 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at our school. It was attended by seventy-seven participants, including 2 teachers, 1 technician and 19 students from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College, 2 teachers, 1 technician and 4 students from Law Ting Pong Secondary School, 3 teachers and 18 students from St. Paul’s Secondary School, and 5 staff members and 22 students from our school. 2015 Oxbridge Interview Workshop
  On 30th October, 2015, representatives from ARCH Education came to our school to share with our current and prospective Oxbridge applicants on ways to prepare for Oxbridge interviews. Ms. Emma Humphries first outlined the collegiate system and differences between the courses provided by Oxford and Cambridge. Students were then split into groups with several discipline specific tutors from ARCH according to their chosen subjects. The tutors simulated Oxbridge style interviews and shared with students how to answer questions skillfully to better demonstrate their knowledge and enthusiasm towards the subject. Blood Donation Day
  The annual Blood Donation Day, organized by the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Centre, was successfully held on 30th October 2015. This year, 72 Paulinians and teachers participated in this meaningful event. The donation process started with a haemoglobin test, followed by a consultation with the nurse and finally, the actual blood donation. Afterwards, donors were given some refreshments and time to rest. The event, which ended at 5:00 p.m, showed our Paulinains’ altruistic hearts and concern for the needy. Visit by Educators from Wales, UK
  A delegation of teachers from various schools in Wales, UK, visited our school on 27 October 2015, to discuss Digital Literacy at our school. After a warm welcome by students from the Hospitality Team, some of our teachers introduced our ICT vision, curriculum and programmes to them. Cleft Lip Mission
  On 25th October 2015, five students (Vanessa Sze 6P, Tiffany Chu 6A, Kelly Au-Yeung 6S, Christy Chan 6S and Tina Ip 5P) accompanied by Ms. S. Keung and Ms. M. Leung joined Dr. Abbie Li and Dr. Candy Chan in attending the Huiyang District Medical Association and Medical Mission For Children (MMFC) Forum on Cleft Lip and Palate in Huiyang, China. The MMFC team comprising of volunteer ENT surgeons, anesthetist, dentists and nurses from the US and HK collaborated with doctors from Huiyang People’s Hospital to provide free consultation, surgical and post-operative treatment to underprivileged children, including orphans, from various regions in China suffering from cleft lip and cleft palate.   The Central & Western District Age Group Athletic Meet 2015, jointly organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Central and Western District Recreation and Sports Association, was held at Wan Chai Sports Ground on 18th October, 2015.   The Inter-School Swimming Competition, organized by Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation, was held at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool on 15th October, 2015. Janis Dong of F.2L was the 2nd Runner-up in the C Grade 100m Backstroke event. She also received the 3rd Runner-up 50m Backstroke event. Charmaine Wong of F.3L was the Champion in C Grade 50m and 100m Backstroke events. Chelsea Ng of F.3S was the 3rd Runner-up in B Grade 200m Individual Medley event. In the C Grade 4x50m Individual Medley Relay event, our school received the 3rd-Runner-up. The team the team members were Regine Tam and Clare Chau of F.2S, Priscilla Ho of F.2U and Janis Dong of F.2L. In the B Grade 4x50m Freestyle Relay event, our school was the 2nd Runner-up. Dress Causal Day
  Dress Casual Day was not just an occasion for our Paulinians to wear casual clothes to school, but it was also an opportunity for them to show their philanthropic spirit. This year, our annual Dress Casual Day was held on 8th October and we are pleased to announce that our school raised a total of $159,180!   Some of our F.5 and F.6 students attained excellent results in the Australian National Chemistry Quiz 2015 organized by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education. The result has finally released on 30th September. Haylie Tong and Karen Li of F.5T and Rachelle Yeung of F.5P scored 100% in the quiz. Platform Speeches
  On 16th September, 20 Form 5 students, who are the 2015-2016 Prefects’ Board members, delivered their platform speeches to the entire school. In their speeches, they talked about their strengths and qualities, and how they can use their leadership skills to make the school a better place. They also expressed their gratitude to our Principal and teachers for all the support they had received over the years. After listening to all 20 platform speeches, teachers and Paulinians voted for the Head Prefect and two Vice-Head Prefects. Korean Educational Tour
  The best way to learn technology is to experience it firsthand. On 15th – 17th September 2015, Sr. Margaret and 3 teachers went to Korea for an IT Educational Tour. They visited high-tech sites such as the LG Science Hall, the Digital Pavilion and the Samsung d’light. Besides, they also attended the “e-learning Expo in Korea”. The tour is a fruitful one that featured the latest hologram, video wall, 3D printing and robot technologies that could be used in our school to enhance teaching and learning.   On 12th September 2015, a training workshop was conducted in the school hall for club moderators and officers. Our Vice Principal & ECA Coordinator, Mrs. J. Wong, started the workshop, highlighting the importance of extra-curricular activities in grooming students to become responsible and ethical leaders.   On Friday, 11th September 2015, Fr. Russell celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit with the Paulinian family at Christ the King Chapel. He invited all students to call upon the Holy Spirit to guide them in their studies and help them to make the most of new opportunities ahead. Fr. Russell also reminded everyone that it was a privilege and blessing to be called the children of God.   “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.” Our annual Teachers’ Day celebration was held on 10th September, 2015, when we expressed our gratitude to our Principal, Rev.   Every year, the National Convention is one of the most important events of the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (JCI Hong Kong). This year, the theme of the National Convention was "Uniting Everyone-A Home for All" (共融). The opening ceremony of the event took place on Friday, 11th September, at Sun Beam Theatre, in the evening. Our Cantonese Opera team was invited to be one of the guest performers at the opening ceremony. Disciples Escoffier - Young Talent Trophy Competition 2015
  On 8th to 10th September, Krystal Wah from F.5A, Joey Man from F.5L, Natalie Fung from F.4U and Daisy Chan from F. 3U took part in the Disciples Escoffier - Young Talent Trophy Competition 2015. As commis chefs, they demonstrated their skills in different areas of the kitchen by assisting the chefs in these areas. Joey Man was part of the team from China, which won the Best Team award.   Our students participated in the 2015 Science Assessment Test (Secondary 2 and 3) organized by Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education and received excellent results. 9 students have received the Gold Award.   On 4th September, 2015, new teachers were invited to attend an Induction meeting with the Induction Team, headed by our Principal Sr. Margaret Wong. After all the new teachers had introduced themselves, Sr. Margaret briefed them on the school profile, including the nature of the school, our mission, vision, history, school badge and motto. Visits from PDS Partner Schools
  The three partner schools under the PDS project visited our school in August and October 2015. The purpose of the visits was to discuss the topics we had suggested in the PDS proposal and observe the growth of algae and the many experiments that our students had done with algae in the Classroom of the Future. St. Paul’s Convent School - Staff Development Days
  On 22nd and 24th of August, 2015, all staff were invited to participate in staff development activities. On the 22nd transport was laid on to take everyone to the 30th China Adolescent Science and Technology Innovation Contest at the Asia Expo venue on Lantau Island. It was amazing to see the inventiveness of students from so many different schools, and the creativity extended from robotics and weaving, to aeroplane cabin air filtration systems. A.S. Watson Group HK Student Sports Award 2014-2015
  Tina Ip of F.4S was awarded the A.S. Watson Group HK Student Sports Award 2014-2015 for her remarkable performance in sports. She was also awarded HKD 500 and a SSA certificate for being an outstanding student athlete in Hong Kong. Tina is particularly gifted in badminton and javelin and has been the recipient of numerous prizes in both territory-wide as well as inter-school competitions. The Leadership Training Camp (2015-2016)
  The leadership training camp of 2015-2016 took place on 18th and 19th August, 2015 in the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp. 6 teachers and current Prefects’ Board members joined the newly elected school prefects for the leadership training activity. School prefects participated in exciting team building games such as bamboo raft construction and they also had a campfire at night. Future Pilot Training Programme 2015
  From 18th July - 1st August, Peary Chong (5S), Janice Choi (5S), Janet Lee (5P) and Katherine Ho (5A) participated in the Future Pilot Training Programme 2015, which was jointly organized by the HKDSSSC and the School of Aviation of the UNSW. During this two-week programme, not only were they able to build up their knowledge of aviation but they also received five hours of training in flying a DA40 aircraft. In addition, they took part in a cross-country flight to the Temora Aviation Museum, which was a good opportunity for them to learn about the history of aviation.   The Stanford International Youth Program (‘SIYP’) 2015 was yet another highly educational and successful experience for SPCS Form 3 students. We attended classes in subjects as diverse as Neuroscience, Design Thinking, Intuitive Problem Solving, Investigations in Engineering, Compassionate Leadership, Mathematical Explorations, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Video Game Design, Intuitive Problem Solving, Endocrinology and a Writing workshop. Form One Bridging Course 2015
  To prepare the new Form one students (2015-16) for a smooth transition from primary to secondary in September 2015, the school has provided them with a Bridging Course from 13 July - 25 July 2015. In first week, students took Chinese, Mathematics and ICT lessons. In the second week, they attended an English Immersion Course organized by the Wofoo Social Enterprises and supported by HKSAR Education Bureau, British Council and Hong Kong Baptist University.   4 students won prizes in the Mathematics Book Report Competition (2014-15) organized by EDB. First Class Award winners are Lois Lam (3P) and Sigis Yau (3P). Secondary School Mathematics and Science Competition 2015 organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  The award presentation ceremony of Secondary School Mathematics and Science Competition 2015 organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University was successfully held on 8 July. Some of our F.5 students attained excellent results in Chemistry, with Kelly Au Yeung (F.5S), Janice Chan (F.5L), Natalie Mak (F.5U) and Jaime Tsang (F.5U) obtaining medals. Brescia GirsLEAD leadership training programme 2015
  On 8th July 2015, 40 Form 3 students set off for London, Ontario, Canada to attend a two-week leadership camp organised by Brescia University College. The programme comprised a wide range of activities and lectures and we had numerous opportunities to build and apply our leadership qualities. The counsellors meticulously planned the activities of each day around a special theme, such as 'Framing Leadership', 'Confidence and Self-esteem', 'Understanding Differences' and 'Role Models', which allowed us to focus on one aspect of leadership at a time. We also learnt many valuable lessons, such as how every small action can impact people around us and that we should always try to set a good example to our juniors, who look up to us.   The final round of Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools 2015, organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education, Hong Kong Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry and the Education Bureau, was held on 4 July 2015. Katherine Ho (F.5A), Lavinia Lau (F.5L), Denise Law (F.5U), Jaime Tsang (F.5U) and Ivy Tsang (F.5A) presented their project titled "Homemade Pastel". "Digichem" Video Production Competition for Hong Kong Secondary Schools 2015 organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education
  The Prize-giving Ceremony of the "Digichem" Video Production Competition for Hong Kong Secondary Schools 2015, organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education, was successfully held on 4th July 2015. Two teams of students participated in the competition and produced their videos titled "The Tricky Transformer" and "The Chemistry of Colour - Homemade Pastel". St. Paul’s Convent School’s 160th Anniversary Open Days
  The St. Paul’s Convent School 160th Anniversary Open Days were held on the 4th, 5th and 6th of July, 2015. There had been high expectations of these days, and in the event everyone was more than delighted by what SPCS had to offer. It has been estimated that over the three days more than 10,000 people came through the doors to see what the school had laid on for them. These visitors were a complete cross-section of Hong Kong Society, from senior educational and political figures, to alumni, principals and teachers from neighbouring schools, parents, school students, friends and well-wishers. 160th Anniversary Open Day – Gastronomy Delights @ Home Economics Department
  On 4th July to 6th July 2015, the Home Economics Department of SPCS invited Chef Robert Fontana (Chairman of Asia, Disciples Escoffier International), Chef Ricky Cheung, Chef Jacky Yu and Towngas Cooking Centre Manager Ms. Pauline Wong to be our guest chefs on the occasion of our school's 160th Anniversary. It was a great opportunity for parents, alumni, guests and students to meet these renowned chefs, who inspired them with their professional and innovative cooking skills as well as many scrumptious dishes. 160th Anniversary Open Day – University Admission Talks
  On the afternoon of 6th July, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., admissions officers and student ambassadors from The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology came to our school to give talks on university admission to our students, parents and other visitors. They introduced both JUPAS and Non-JUPAS requirements, as well as the uniqueness and culture of each university. The student ambassadors also shared with us their experiences of studying different subjects in different universities. These experiences, which cannot be learned from books and brochures, gave us a deeper insight into life at university. Pertinent questions were also raised during the talks, which enabled us to know more about specific systems and procedures for different faculties.   On 6th July, our school hosted the Joint School Student Forum. One of the highlights of our Open Day, it brought together young people from 8 distinguished schools in Hong Kong, including Queen’s College, St. Paul’s College, Diocesan Boys’ School, St. Paul’s School (Lam Tin), St. Paul’s Secondary School, DMHC Siu Ming Catholic Secondary School and NTHYK Yuen Long District Secondary School.   St. Paul’s Convent School held its 160th Anniversary Homecoming Dinner on 3rd July at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with great aplomb and ceremony. Parents, students, teachers, guests and alumni all came together on this joyous occasion to celebrate the many successes of the school over the past 160 years. Aeroplane Naming Ceremony
  A 3-day event, which was attended by nearly 100 people including guests, staff members, students and alumni, was held at Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO) in Chek Lap Kok, from 25th – 27th May 2015, to mark the naming of our RV-8 aeroplane. The event began on 25th May, when our honoured guests, Professor Tony Chan, President of the Council of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor Wei Shyy, Chair Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Mr. John Chai, Executive Director of the Airport Authority, visited the aeroplane at the site. Macau Yuet Wah College Visit
  On 23rd May 2015, a group of teachers and vice-principals from Yuet Wah College, Macau, visited our school. After a short briefing on the history of the school by some Form Six students belonging to the Hospitality Team, our guests were provided with a general overview of the facilities at the school and our students' achievements. This was followed by a presentation on the school’s curriculum, Diversified Interest Programme, co-curricular activities, Prefects' Board and our Putonghua Immersion Programme in Beijing. The visit proved to be extremely informative, with our guests gaining a better understanding not only of our school but also the education system in Hong Kong. Edexcel IAL & IGCSE Academic Trainings
  From 20th May to 5th June 2015, a total of 5 training sessions on various IAL and IGCSE subjects (including IAL Physics, IAL Chemistry, IAL Biology, IGCSE Mathematics and IGCSE English as Second Language) were organized by Edexcel in our school. All sessions were conducted by examiners from Edexcel flying from UK to Hong Kong. The aim of these trainings was to bring into focus the issues, which include planning of the course and preparing students for examinations.   The Bonaqua All H.K. Schools Jing Ying Badminton (Team) Tournament 2014-2015 was held at Tseung Kwan O Sports Centre on 18th May, 2015. Our school's badminton team was the 2nd Runner-up. In the 2014-2015 school year, our school's badminton team was the Champion in B Grade competition. Our A Grade and C Grade teams won the 1st Runner-up prize. Our overall position was Champion.   細雨迷濛的夏日五月,中一全級師生共246人進入了韶關市,進行為期三天兩夜(2015年5月8日至10日)的遊學活動。是次活動除了讓初中生認識丹霞山的地質地貌,了解丹霞山作為世界自然遺產對當地環境、經濟及民生的機遇和挑戰,也讓學生親身體會國情,並拓闊了視野。 抵達丹霞山後,學生遊經了陽元山、天生橋、臥龍崗原始森林、錦石岩等自然景區,也參觀了地質博物館,對丹霞山的自然環境保育及發展有了更深的認識。活動範圍為自然山區,行程攀山過水,碰上首天細雨綿綿,學生們吃了點苦頭,但也窺見了丹霞山飄渺嫵媚的一面。當氣喘噓噓地攀到錦石岩上,俯瞰山下赭山碧水,聽那梵聲佛唱,不期然有遠離塵?,心靈滌蕩的感悟。也慨嘆大自然的瑰美,更深切明白自然保育的重要性。 Click here for more information.

International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, and Environment) Project Olympiad 2015 organized by Harmony Public Schools
  The I-SWEEEP Olympiad 2015 was successfully held in Houston, Texas in United States, from 7 to 11 May, 2015. The science fair brought together 427 top projects from 67 countries and 44 U.S. states to Houston where young researchers presented their innovative projects to take on today’s challenges in energy, engineering, and environment. Being one of the Hong Kong delegate teams, Tiffany Chan, Katherine Lai and Seraph Wu of F.6A presented their project “Devising a test kit to monitor heavy metal ions in industrial wastewater” in the contest. Educational Trip to University of Macau and United International College
  A total of 24 people, including our Principal, teachers, parents and students, paid a short visit to the University of Macau (UM) and United International College (UIC) in Zhuhai, China, on 7th and 8th May 2015. On 7th May, we set off for Macau after the Swimming Gala. That evening, we had the opportunity to see the spectacular show, “The House of Dancing Water”, a production which combines acrobatics, ballet, high performance diving, drama, graphics and a love story! Annual Swimming Gala
  Our annual Swimming Gala was held at Victoria Park Swimming Pool on 7th May 2015. It was an extremely enjoyable experience for everyone, including swimmers, spectators, officials and cheerleaders. Our Guest of Honour, Mr. Kenneth CHEN Wei-on, SBS, Secretary General of the Legislative Council Secretariat, stressed that he was very impressed by the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie demonstrated by our students. Roche Young Scientist Award organized by Roche, Hong Kong Education City Limited and The School of Science of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
  Maisie Luk, Cindy Jiang and Jennifer Kwong of F.2T participated in the final round judging of the Roche Young Scientist Award on 7th May, 2015 and attained the second runner-up with their project ‘Chrysanthemum – A Natural Disinfectant’.   Charmaine Wong of 2U participated in the Malaysia Invitation Championship 2015 on 24th Apr 2015. Charmaine won the Champion prize in 400m Individual Medley and 4x100m Freestyle Relay events.   The 2014-2015 ESD Learning Programme organised by UNESCO Hong Kong Association during October to March 2015, our students obtained good results with their project "Creating A Sustainable Environment to Live - Pokfulam Village.   Twelve students from our school participated in the Hong Kong Inter-School Mock Trial Championship on 18 and 19 April 2015. After 4 rounds of strengeous battles, our Team got the 1st Runner-up. The 12 team members are Alison Chan and Stephanie Ng of F. 4P, Patricia Ricafort of F. 4A, Peary Chong of F. 5S, Jennifer Lau, Kristie Leung, Sherrie Ng, Andrea Wong and Priscilla Sung of F. 5T, Asai Karin and Eunice Yiu of F. 5P, and Jasmin Tsang of F. 5L as the team captain. 3 team members also got individual awards. Stem Cell Knowledge Exchange Programme Multimedia Design Competition (2014-2015)
  Our Form 5 students joined the Multimedia Design Competition of the Stem Cell Knowledge Exchange Programme organized by HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Consortium (SCRMC). They designed and presented their ibook about current issues on the cultural, societal and ethical implications of advances in stem cell research to the judges in the Hong Kong Science Park on 18th April, 2015. Hemans Leung and Annie Kong of F.5S won the champion, while Cherry Fung of F.5S, Tiffany Chu of F.5A and Esther Lee of F.5U attained the first runner-up.   On the 11th of April, 15 of our teachers and our Principal have joined the Jesuit Education Forum organized by Wah Yan College Hong Kong and Wah Yan College Kowloon as part of their anniversaries’ programmes. Educators and scholars across the world shared their experiences and insights on the ideals and goals of Jesuit education. It was a fruitful experience for the teachers to deepen their understanding towards Ignatian heritage and education vision. The 160th Anniversary Retreat
  To celebrate the school’s 160th Anniversary, the Alumni Association organized a day retreat for alumni members, teachers, students and their parents on 4th April 2015. Through the eyes of the leading medieval theologian St. Bonaventure and his work entitled, “Tree of Life”, Reverend Bro. William Ng, OFM enabled us to feel Christ’s passion.   Chelsea Ng of 2S participated in the Age Group Short Course Swimming Competition (Division II) on 30th March 2015 . Chelsea was the Champion in 200m Backstroke event.   On 28th March, 2015, Paulinians from both junior and senior forms participated in the Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition 2014-2015 organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association Science Innovation Centre. In the senior division, Eunice Yiu of F.5P received the 1st Place Award with her project “Organic Mosquito Repellents” while Katherine Ho, Ivy Tsang of F.5A and Denise Law of F.5U received the 3rd Place Award with their project “Homemade Pastel”. Provision of Students-Helpers for Sir Ellis Kadoorie (S) Primary School Sports’ Day
  On 26th March, 2015, 20 Paulinians assisted teachers at Sir Ellis Kadoorie (S) Primary School to run their Sports Day programme at Wan Chai Sports Ground. These students attended a briefing session by Mr. Loi, PE Panel of Sir Ellis Kadoorie (S) Primary School, on 23th March, 2015. They were then divided into groups and assigned various duties. Teachers of Sir Ellis Kadoorie (S) Primary School were very pleased to have our students assist them in the smooth running of their Sports Day programame. Our students found the event very meaningful, and it really allowed them to demonstrate the Paulinian 7 C’s. They enjoyed themselves very much and learnt a lot. Click here for more information.

  The 13th CILTHK Essay Competition was held recently in Hong Kong. Organizers say this competition is held in order to deepen the understanding of secondary school students in Hong Kong’s transportation and logistics industry. The topic this year was “Will Rationalisation of Bus Routes Improve Bus Service?” The Prize Giving Ceremony was held on Saturday, 21 March, 2015 at Lecture Theatre 5, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, Tsing Yi.   The Hong Kong Athletics Series 2015-Series 2, organized by the Hong Kong Amateur Athletics Association, was held at Wan Chai Sports Ground on 21st and 22nd March, 2015. 2014-15 Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award
  In addition to winning the SCMP Student of the Year Grand Prize last month, Eunice Yiu of F5P won the “2014-15 Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award”, organized by the Youth Arch Foundation. Eunice was one of eleven awardees who were selected out of 400 candidates from 120 secondary schools in Hong Kong. She was chosen for being an all-round student of good character, with good academic achievements, active participation in extra-curricular activities and devotion to community service. Annual Sports Day
  19th March 2015 was a very fine day, when our school gathered at Wan Chai Sports Ground for our annual Sports Day. It was an extremely enjoyable occasion for everyone, with the emphasis being on taking part and not winning. Athletes pushed themselves to achieve their personal best while the cheering teams spurred them on enthusiastically, with their creative routines. We were very pleased to have Mr. Jeff Sze, Political Assistant to the Secretary for Education, HKSAR Government, as our Guest-of-Honour. Visit by Pearson Director
  On March 10, 2015, St. Paul's Convent School was pleased to welcome Mr David Crowther, Director of International Products and Global Partnerships for Pearson plc. He was on a fact-finding tour of schools in Asia and was interested in finding out how St. Paul's found the latest Pearson products and whether we needed additional support. In particular he was interested in the implementation of Edexcel examination syllabi, but he was equally interested in how the new BTEC course development was progressing. SCMP Student of the Year Awards 2014
  Eunice Yiu of F.5P won the Student of the Year Grand Prize and Seraph Wu of F.6A became the first Student of the Year Scientist & Mathematician at the 34th Student of the Year Competition 2014 jointly organised by South China Morning Post and the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Judges highly praised Eunice for her strong leadership skills, commitment to all her interests and clear goals for her future, while Seraph impressed the judges with her passion for scientific research, as well as her dedication to community service. In addition, Seraph and Tina Ip of F.4S were the top 10 finalists for the Grand Prize and the Sportsperson categories respectively. The Student of the Year award presentation ceremony was held at the Sheraton Hotel on 28 February 2015 and both Eunice and Seraph were awarded HK$25,000 and HK$10,000 scholarships respectively for their achievements.   We were very happy to have Ms Lucy Stewart, Senior Academic Portfolio Manager, along with Ms Catherine Kwan, Senior Regional Development Manager and Ms Tiffany Cheung ( Sales and Marketing Executive) from Pearson (International) to come to our school on 10th February to host a focus group meeting with our Academic Team and teachers on the redevelopment of the IGCSE curriculum. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss about the existing qualifications and how it can be improved, progression requirements, as well as teaching and learning support Pearson can provide for teachers.   The Tai Po District Age Group Table Tennis Competition 2014-2015, organized by Leisure and Cultural Services Department was held in September 2014. Muskaan Chandani of F.3U was the 2nd Runner in U18 Girls Doubles. The prize presentation was held at Tai Po Sports Association Lee Fok Lam Indoor Sports Centre on 8th February, 2015. Performance in FireAsia Gala Dinner 2015
  On 6th February, 2015, our Chinese Orchestra, Cantonese Opera and Chinese Dance Team were invited to perform for FireAsia Gala Dinner 2015 in HK Convention and Exhibition Center. The students performed a famous opera 《大唐笙歌》 and a beautiful Chaoxian Dance 《吉祥的鼓兒敲起來》which won the applause of all the audiences. It was a memorable event. Click here for more information.

The 4th Hong Kong Tri-Nation Netball Tournament
  The 4th Hong Kong Tri-Nation Netball Tournament was held at Kowloon Park Sports Centre from 29th January to 1st February, 2015. The netball teams from Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Hong Kong participated in this spectacular annual event. The Opening Ceremony was held on 30th January, 2015. 11 Paulinians took part in the dragon dance performance during the ceremony and they enjoyed themselves immensely. Horse Riding Day
  The Horse Riding Day was held on 24th January 2015 in the Jockey Club - Beas River Country Club. It was a very exciting experience for the sixty participants, most of whom were our alumni and their families. When they arrived at the club, they were taken on a tour around the stables. Then, they visited St. Paul’s House of Prayer, where they had tea with the sisters. Each participant got a horseshoe as a souvenir from the Jockey Club. The Wan Chai Youth Festival 2014
  The Wan Chai Youth Festival 2014 Closing Ceremony cum Talent Extravaganza, jointly organized by the Home Affairs Department (Wan Chai District), Wan Chai District Youth Programme Committee and St. James' Settlement, was held successfully at Queen Elizabeth Stadium on 17th January 2015. Our school’s cheerleading team was invited to perform at this mega event. All cheerleaders showed immense enthusiasm and performed energetically. 中四中五班際中文辯論比賽
  本年度的中四中五班際中文辯論比賽於十月至一月期間舉行,並在一月十四日舉行決賽。經過三個回合的激戰後,中五保和中四施成功躋身決賽。當日的辯題為「港府應推行全民退休保障」。本校有幸邀請到香港大學中文學院講師廖舜禧先生、香港大學社會工作及社會行政學系名譽教授周永新教授及扶貧委員會成員冼懿敏女士擔任評判。雙方同學都對辯題作出深入透徹的分析,經過一番唇槍舌劍,代表反方的中四施以二比一的票數勝出,而最佳辯論員則由反方中四施的陳欣翹同學奪得。 Click here for more information.

The Dragon & Lion Dance Extravaganza 2015
  The Dragon & Lion Dance Extravaganza 2015, organized by the Hong Kong Dragon and Lion Festival Preparatory Committee, was held in Tsim Sha Tsui on 1st January, 2015. Local and foreign visitors enjoyed this colourful and thrilling festival tremendously, particularly the splendid Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance, Kung Fu performances. BTEC Portfolio Building
  The BTEC Portfolio Course was held on Thursday, 18 December, 2014 in room G6. The Instructor was Mr. Robert East from the UK. He gave a most informative lecture about how BTEC courses should be delivered and administered. Dealing with issues such as proper assessment guidance, how to track student performance and how to keep student work organised, he illustrated all his points with both slides and exemplars. He was clear, helpful and informative, and he addressed every question from the floor promptly.   The third PDS seminar entitled ‘Helping Students to Handle Difficult Questions’ was held on Tuesday, 16th December 2014, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Convent School. A total of 13 persons from our school and three partner schools attended the seminar, including 3 teachers from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College, 1 teacher from Queen’s College, 3 teachers from St. Joseph’s College, 5 staff members from SPCS and 1 representative from the EDB. Requiem Mass for Sr. Isabel of the Angels Narciso
  Sr. Isabel of the Angels’ Requiem Mass was held in Christ the King Chapel at 6:00 p.m. on 15th December 2014. Both past and present teachers and students of the two schools she had served in Hong Kong and her friends joined to bid her farewell as an act of respect to her. Rev. Sr. Joanna Cheung, the Provincial Superior of the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres first started the ceremony by giving the attendants the life history of Sr. Isabel. Then the mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Alfred Deignan, Rev. Fr. John Russell, Rev. Fr. John B. Kwan, Rev. Fr. Secundino Vicente and Rev. Fr. Emiliano Perez. Before the mass ended, two of her past students, Mrs. Lai and Ms. Annie Leung were invited to share their precious memory on Sr. Isabel. The mass ended with Fr. Deignan and all the co-celebrants leading all present to give her three bows. Prayer Service for Sr. Isabel of the Angels Narciso
  In the morning assembly on 15th December 2014, all the staff and students solemnly gathered at the school playground to pray for the repose of the soul of Sr. Isabel of the Angels Narciso who passed away in the Philippines on Sunday, 7th December 2014 at the age of 95. She was the Principal of St. Paul’s Convent School from 1971 to 1980. All those present were given a detailed history of Sr. Isabel. Click here for more information.

Staff Development Visit to the Learning and Teaching Expo 2014
  This years annual Learning and Teaching Expo took place from the 11th-13th December in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Over the course of the three days the Principal and staff attended many talks, workshops and presentations to discover the latest developments in educational resources and learning technology. The Expo hosted a combination of more than 200 exhibition booths showcasing new technology, furniture, e-learning platforms, robotic programming, mobile apps, game-based learning and many, many more. Hong Kong Award for Environmental Excellence
  As the Bronze Award winner of 2013 Hong Kong Award for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE), our school was invited to host the Green School Visit for the 13th Hong Kong Green School Award on 28th November, 2014. Around 80 guests, which included representatives from the Hong Kong Education Bureau, Macau Environmental Protection Department, Environmental Campaign Committee, together with teachers from Macau and Hong Kong primary and secondary schools, came for the visit. The Second PDS Seminar 2014-2015
  The second PDS seminar entitled ‘A Review of Globalization through Cooperative Learning’ was held on Friday, 28th November 2014, from 2:00 – 4:35 p.m. at Queen’s College. A total of 15 persons from our school and three partner schools attended the seminar, including 4 teachers from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College, 2 teachers from Queen’s College, 2 teachers from St. Joseph’s College, 5 staff members from SPCS and 2 representatives from the EDB. 33 teachers from other schools, who had enrolled under the EMI Learning Community, joined the seminar. 2014 Hong Kong Island Outstanding Students Selection
  Seraph Wu of 6A and Tina Ip of 4S were among the ten Hong Kong Island Outstanding Students 2014 in the Senior Section and the Junior Section respectively. Selected by the Hong Kong Island School Head Association from over a hundred candidates and after two rounds of interviews, they were judged on their academic performance, leadership, special talents and involvement in community service. BTEC Start-Up Training Course
  St. Paul's was privileged to host a BTEC Training Course on 25-27 November, 2014. Mrs. Lesley Davies, Director of Quality and Standards for BTEC, and Catherine Kwan of Pearson (BTEC) HK, led a series of presentations that explained how St. Paul's could become an approved BTEC training centre. Present on the course was Sr. Margaret, and other senior management figures, as well as teaching staff interested in delivering a BTEC curriculum. EMPIRE MOCK TRIAL
  Twelve students from SPCS participated in the inaugural Empire Mock Trial in San Francisco, USA, from 20 to 24 November 2014. Among the 24 competing teams from around the world, our school team is the first Hong Kong Team to participate in an International High School Mock Trial Tournament. The Team only had around six weeks to prepare for this simulated court case. They had to prepare for both the Plaintiff and the Defence, acting as attorneys and witnesses to fight on behalf of their clients. The 5th French Speech Competition
  This year, with 32 French girls have participated in the 5th French Competition in Solo Poetry Speaking and in Choral Poetry Speaking and other students received outstanding results with 23 prize winners. Click here for more information.

Scholarship for Secondary School Students 2014
  In recognition of their excellent conduct and performance in academic work, extra-curricular activities and social service, Bella Chan and Tiffany Chan of F.6A and Kristy Mak of F.5P won the highly coveted Scholarship for Secondary School Students 2014, organised by the Bank of Communications Charitable Foundation (中學生獎學金 2014), from over 500 nominations.   The Wanchai District Age Group Table Tennis Competition organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department was held at the Harbour Road Sports Center on 16th November, 2014. Joey Yip of F.4S was the Champion in the Youth Singles competition. Joey also won the Championship in the Hong Kong Open (Girls’ Team C Event) competition, which was organized by the Hong Kong Table Tennis Association and held at the Cornwall Street Squash and Tennis Centre on 22nd November, 2014.   St. Paul’s Convent School’s annual Speech Day was held on 20th November 2014. It was a very special occasion, which allowed us to celebrate the achievements of our students. With the school entrance bedecked with flowers from numerous well-wishers, we welcomed parents, teachers, alumni and guests. World Heart Day 14-15
  On 16th November, 2014, nine of our students from the Health Club were invited by the St. Paul’s Hospital to take part in the World Heart Day 2014 organized by the Hong Kong College of Cardiology with the theme “Healthy Heart, Start from You”. Our Paulinians actively took part in running a game booth in the Happy Valley Racecourse in order to address the importance of a life-course approach to the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases. The Yuen Long District Sports Festival 2014
  The Yuen Long District Sports Festival 2014 – Yuen Long Cheerleading Championships Open cum All Hong Kong Cheerleading Extravaganza, jointly organized by the Yuen Long District Sports Association and the Hong Kong Cheerleading Federation Hong Kong, China, subvented by the Yuen Long District Council, was held at Tin Fai Road Sports Centre on 8th November, 2014. Oxbridge Sharing Session
  On the 7th November, 2014, admissions tutors from Cambridge, as well as representatives from ARCH Education came to our school to share with our current and prospective Oxbridge applicants on how to perform better in Oxbridge interviews. Ms. Emma Humphries from ARCH first introduced the features and differences between Oxford and Cambridge, as well as what students should expect from these universities. 5 November 2014 SPCS Outing: Appreciating the “I” in DIP!
  November 2014 was Innotech Month and Hong Kong Science Park hosted Innocarnival, an exhibition that showcased the latest technology in our daily lives. It focused on “Intelligent Living, Quality Living and Green Living.” SPCS students from the AppJamming, CSL and Robotics DIP – Diversified Interest Programme – had the opportunity to extend their interests through exploration, engagement and experience. Staff Development Outing: Innocarnival 2014
  On the 5th of November a group of English and Maths teachers visited the Innocarnival – a showcase of over 500 interesting and educational activities. This interactive exhibition took place at the newly opened phase 3 of the Hong Kong Science Park as part of the annual InnoTech month. The theme this year was “Technology for a Better Future” and teachers were able to learn about and participate in a diverse range of activities with a focus on Intelligent Living, Quality Living and Green Living.   The Inter-School Fencing Competition, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation and the Hong Kong Fencing Association, was held at Hang Hau Sports Centre on 3rd November, 2014. Hong Kong Technology & Renewable Energy Events 2014
  Our students got brilliant results in the Hong Kong Technology & Renewable Energy Events 2014 held at the Hong Kong Science Park on the 1st of November 2014. Suie Lo From F. 5T, Amanda So from F. 5A and Natalie Mak from F. 5U obtained First Runner-up and the First Class Award for their design in the 手搖發電智能機械模型車(高級組)探索賽, while Caren Au from F. 5T, Denise Law and Priscilla Wong from F. 5U obtained Second Class Award in 太陽能模型車大賽. BOCHK Hong Kong Youth Badminton Championships 2014
  Tina Ip of F.4S was the 2nd runner up in Women’s singles (Year 99-01) in the BOCHK Hong Kong Youth Badminton Championships 2014 organized by the HKBA in August. Tina was also the 2nd runner-up in the 36th President Cup Hong Kong Badminton Team Championships 2014 Women Intermediate group organized by the HKBA in October 2014. Moreover, Tina received the 1st place in the 2013/14 分區青年軍羽毛球全能大比武-個人全能項目 organized by the HKBA. Click here for more information.

Blood Donation Day
  The annual blood donation day was successfully organized by the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Centre on 31st October 2014. The donation procedure started with a haemoglobin test. This was followed by a chat with the nurse and then the actual blood donation. Afterwards, donors were given some refreshments and time to rest. The event ended successfully at 5:00pm. This year, 80 Paulinians (and teachers) participated in this meaningful event, showing their altruistic hearts and concern for the needy. Click here for more information.

Gifted Sharing Workshop at Queen’s College
  On 25th October, students from our school were invited to participate in the “Gifted Sharing Workshop” organized by Queen’s College. During the workshop, representatives from the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups introduced the two competitions, Odyssey of the Mind and the World GreenMech Contest, to us. Later on, students from Queen’s College shared their prize-winning designs with us. We were impressed by the way they had made use of 18g of Balsa wood, which is a type of light yet strong wood, to create a structure that was capable of withstanding a weight of 800 pounds! The 14th Awarding Program for Future Scientists organized by the China Association for Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Natural Science Foundation of China and H. S. Chau Foundation Limited
  The Final Judging of the 14th Awarding Program for Future Scientists (第十四屆「明天小小科學家」獎勵活動) was successfully held in Beijing, from 23 to 30 October 2014. One hundred finalists were selected from 669 representatives from 26 provinces, cities and autonomous regions of China. They were judged on a written test on scientific knowledge, an integrated assessment on personal quality and a project presentation. Ranking top 3 among the finalists, Seraph Wu of F.6A won the Future Scientist Award with her project entitled ‘Metallic Rainbow’. Annual Inter-Class Dance Competition 2014 - 2015 on 17th October, 2014
  The annual Inter-Class Dance Competition was successfully held on 17th October 2014 in the school hall. A total of 24 classes took part in the event. With great passion and enthusiasm, students performed a variety of dances in different genres, ranging from modern to pop. Finally, Form 4S won the Overall Champion award.   Beatrice Law of F.4P was the Champion in Senior Girl Group of the Joint School Orienteering Championship, held by HKCEO on 11th October, 2014. Besides, Beatrice was the 2nd Runner-up in W16 of the HKOC Committee Cup cum Open Event 2014/2015, held by the HKOC on 12th October, 2014. Lastly, Beatrice was the 1st Runner-up in W16 Sprint Event and 2nd Runner-up in W16 Middle/Long Distance Event of the Hong Kong Orienteering Ranking League, held by OAHK on 19th October, 2014 and 23rd November, 2014.   Charmaine Wong of F.2U was the Champion of 200m Backstroke in the Tuen Mun District Swimming Gala on 7th September 2014. Charmaine was the Champion of 200m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke in the Shatin District Swimming Gala on 14th September 2014. Moreover, Charmaine was the Champion in 200m Freestyle,100m Backstroke and 200m Backstroke in the Yau Tsim Mong District Swimming Gala on 21st September 2014. On 5th October 2014 , Charmaine was the Champion of 200m butterfly in In the Sai Kung District Swimming Gala. Lastly, Charmaine was the Champion of 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke and 4x100m Medley Relay in the 29th New Territories Inter District Swimming Gala which was held on 19th Oct 2014. A School Visit by Principal and Staff from Queen’s College
  On 17th October 2014, Ms Li Sui-wah, the Principal of Queen’s College, visited our school along with her teachers, to share ideas on IT issues related to schools, such as the development of mobile learning technolgy, e-learning platforms and IT management system. The Inter-School Swimming Competition
  The Inter-School Swimming Competition, organized by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation, was held at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool on 16th and 24th October, 2014. Charmaine Wong of F. 2U was the 1st Runner-up in the C Grade 50m Backstroke event. She also came 4th in the 200m Individual Medley event. Megan Tam of F.4U came 4th in the B Grade 50m Butterfly event. In the C Grade 4x50m Freestyle Relay event, our school got 4th place. The team members were Regine Tam of F.1S, Janis Dong of F.1L, Allison Lau of F.2S and Rachel Lin of F.2A. Moreover, in the C Grade 4x50m Medley Relay event, our school got 4th place. The First PDS Seminar 2014-2015
  The first PDS seminar entitled ‘Concept Application in Contemporary Issues’ was held on Friday, 17th October 2014, from 2:20 p.m.–4:00 p.m. in the Classroom of the Future, in St. Paul’s Convent School. A total of 15 persons from our school and three partner schools attended the seminar, including 5 teachers from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College, 2 teachers from Queen’s College, 1 teacher from St. Joseph’s College, 5 staff members from SPCS and 2 representatives from the EDB. Installation Ceremony
  The Installation Ceremony, which was held on 15th October, 2014, marked the official commencement of the duties of the new prefects and monitors of the school. The ceremony began with a solemn prayer led by Tiffany Chu (5T), which was followed by an introductory speech by our Head Prefect Eunice Yiu (5P). The Hong Kong Junior Age Group Athletic Meet 2014
  The Hong Kong Junior Age Group Athletic Meet 2014 organized by HKAAA was held at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground and Wan Chai Sports Ground on 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th October, 2014. In Grade A, Martina Chan of F.6T was the 2nd Runner-up in Long Jump event. In Grade B, Christy Chan of F.3A was the 2nd Runner-up in Long Jump event. Tina Ip of F.4S was the Champion in Javelin event. In Grade C, Priscilla Ho of F.1U was the 2nd Runner-up in 1500m race, Winsome Liu of F.1T, Christina Chan of F.1A, Natalie Ku of F.1U and Maisy Lai of F.2P won the 2nd Runner-up prize in 4x400m Relay. St. Paul’s Convent School Celebrates its 160th Anniversary on 7 & 9 October 2014
  On 7th and 9th October 2014, St. Paul’s Convent school celebrated its 160 Anniversary at the Jockey Club Auditorium of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. With three major performances over the two days, and public protests threatening to disrupt the smooth running of rehearsals, St. Paul’s secondary, primary and even kindergarten students and staff, responded to the extraordinary situation magnificently. “The show must go on!” was the order of the day. St. Paul’s Convent School’s 160th Anniversary Show on 8 Oct 2014
  St.Paul’s Convent School, its parents, students from all three sections and alumni, all gathered at the Jockey Club Auditorium of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, to celebrate another year of wonderful achievements on October 8, 2014.The event was doubly meaningful as not only were the successes of the previous year revisited, but so too were the accumulated achievements of the school on this, its 160th anniversary.   On 4th October, 2014, Eunice Yiu (5P), Jaime Tsang (5U), Carmen Leung (4S) and Jamie Chan (4P) attended the Graduation Ceremony for the 2nd Batch and Opening Ceremony for the 3rd Batch of Seedlings 100 Plan organized by the Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology. WAC Annual Challenge 2014
  WAC Annual Challenge 2014 organized by Watsons Athletics Club was held at Ma On Shan Sports Ground on 2nd, 4th and 5th October, 2014. In Grade A, Bonnie Wu of F.4A and Martina Chan of F.6T was 2nd Runner-up and 1st Runner-up in Long Jump event. Hazel Yeung of F.6S was 2nd Runner-up in 200m race and 1st Runner-up in 100m race. Phoebe Lo of F.6P was 2nd Runner-up in 100m race. In Grade B, Tina Ip of F.4S was the Champion in Javelin event. She also made a new record. Tiffany Cheung of F.2L, Christy Chan of F.3A, Beanie Fung and Tracy Chui of F.3L won the 2nd Runner-up prize in 4x100m Relay. Phoebe Tang of F.4U was the Champion in the 4x100m relay. A School Visit by the Principal and IMC Managers of St. Joseph’s College
  On 23rd September 2014, our school was delighted to receive the Principal of St. Joseph’s College, Mrs. Caroline Chan, along with nine managers from the Incorporated Management Committee of the school. Valuable ideas were shared on issues related to teaching and learning at SPCS. Our guests also enjoyed the tour around our school and were impressed by our modern, high-tech classrooms and laboratories. The day ended on a high note with tea refreshments in the Synergy Corner. The 2013 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence
  Our school competed in the 2013 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (Sectoral Awards) and obtained Bronze Award in the Secondary School Category on 22nd September, 2014.   The Kowloon City District Age Group Table Tennis Competition Youth Singles (Age 14-15), organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, was held at Hung Hom Municipal Services Building Sports Center on 21st September, 2014. Incheon Asian Games
  Samantha Cheung of F.4P represented Hong Kong in both the Technical Team and Free Team events of Synchronized Swimming at the Incheon Asian Games held in South Korea from 20th to 23rd September. The overall position of the Hong Kong team was 6th. Click here for more information.

Medical Outreach Programme
  On 14th September 2014, a group of 16 Form 5 students volunteered in the “Health Check for Healthy Life”, which was held in HKTA The Yuen Yuen Institute No.3 Secondary School, Tseung Kwan O. It was a charity event organized by Hong Kong Credible Care Volunteers Association and supported by St. Paul’s Hospital and Home Affairs Department. In this event, registered minorities were given basic health assessment free-of-charge and our girls were capable of running the blood pressure stations on their own. In the last school year (during the DIP sessions), our girls had acquired basic medical knowledge from Dr. Chan, our honorary alumni and a practicing physician. Platform Speech
  On 10th September, 20 Form 5 Paulinians, who are the 2014-2015 Prefects’ Board members, delivered their platform speeches to the entire school. In their speeches, they talked about their strengths and qualities, and how they can use their leadership skills for the benefit of the school. They also expressed their gratitude to the school for all the support they had received over the years. After listening to all 20 platform speeches, teachers and Paulinians voted for the Head Prefect and two Vice-Head Prefects. Teachers Day 2014-2015
  “Teachers are like candles, the guiding lights that open up endless possibilities for us and take us on many adventures.” In order to express our gratitude to our Principal, Rev. Sr. Margaret Wong and all teachers and staff, the annual Teachers’ Day celebration was held on 10th September, 2014. Representatives from the junior forms expressed their thanks and appreciation on stage whilst the senior form students put up a bubbly act. Songs and dances were dedicated to all teachers and deliciously hand-made marshmallows were distributed to them for the untiring support and guidance they had provided to Paulinians over the years. Cardinal John Tong celebrates Opening Mass for 160th Anniversary of St. Paul’s Convent School in Christ the King Chapel
  On 10th September 2014, the priests and sisters of the parish, our teaching and non-teaching staff, the whole student body, alumni and other well-wishers of our school united in prayer and thanksgiving in the presence of His Eminence, Cardinal John Tong and ten concelebrants in honor of our 160 Anniversary. We thanked God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon the Paulinian family over the past 160 years. After the Holy Communion, there was a ceremony to mark the commissioning of the new officers of the Catholic Movement Committee (CMC) and the presidents of the seven religious clubs. This was a reminder to them of their call to be the Salt of the Earth and Light of the World and thus contribute to the enhancement of the religious atmosphere at SPCS and unite Paulinians in Christ’s love. Club Moderators' and Officers' Training
  On 6th September 2014, a training workshop was organised in the school hall for all teachers, club moderators and officer bearers of all clubs. The workshop began with Mrs. J. Wong briefing everyone on the programmes that would be held to celebrate our 160th Anniversary this year. She then explained the roles and duties of moderators and the major committees. This was followed by a demonstration of our school's webpage and the school intranet system. Then, Miss J Fok and Mrs. M Arriaga gave students instructions on how to prepare their clubs’ bulletin boards and financial statements respectively while Mrs. D. Tam instructed students on the school magazine requirements. Finally, our school social worker, Ms. Shirley Man highlighted different voluntary service movements and encouraged our students to join them. It was a fruitful morning. 4th Healthy Choice Cooking Competition
  On 5th September 2014, Katie Au (6S) and Alvis Tang (6S) participated in the “4th Healthy Choice Cooking Competition” (第四屆健康飲食設計及烹飪比賽) and had obtained Potential Business Award (商業潛力獎). They designed and cooked their own recipes, which were two dishes and a soup made with Ka Mei Chicken (嘉美三弄). Educators from Korea
  On 3rd September 2014, Sister Kim, the Principal of Bakmun Girls’ High School in Korea, visited our school along with her teachers, to learn more about the education system in Hong Kong. They were briefed on the all-round achievements of our Paulinians and a Korean TV show featuring our school, which had been filmed by one of their broadcasting companies, was also shown to them. 2014 Youth Park Orienteering Day
  Beatrice Law pf F,4P participated in the 2014 Youth Park Orienteering Day held by the HK Orienteering Club on the 10th of August, 2014 and got the Champion in 13-18 years old age group. Besides, Beatrice won the 1st Runner-up in WB of the HKOC Sprint Event 2014/15, held by the HKOC on the 31st August, 2014. Click here for more information.

Z Carbon Pioneer Project
  Zonta Z Club has participated in the Z Carbon Pioneer Project organised by the Zonta Club of the New Territories, Zonta Club of Hong Kong, and Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden Corporation in the last academic year and has won the "Best Project Award 2013-2014" among the six schools. The Panasonic 10th Hong Kong Synchronized Swimming Open Competition 2014
  The Panasonic 10th Hong Kong Synchronized Swimming Open Competition 2014, organized by the Hong Kong Amateur Association, was held at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool from 29th-31st August, 2014.Samantha was the Champion of the Free Solo event (Age 13-15) in the local and international groups, Free Duet event (Age 13-15) in the local group, Figure event (Age 13-15) in the local group, Free Team event (Age 13 and above group) in the local and international groups and Figure event (Age 13-15) in the international group. She was also 1st Runner-up in the Free Duet event (Age 13-15) in the international group and Technical Duet event (Open Age Group) in the local and international groups. Staff Development Day
  The first Staff Development programme for this year was held on 26th August 2014, on the theme “21st Century Skills Required of Teachers”. It was conducted by Dr. Stephen Wu, a psychologist, who instructed teachers on different ways to renew their strengths, in order to embrace the 160th Anniversary of SPCS. Leadership Training Camp
  The leadership training camp of 2014-2015 took place on the 23rd to 24th of August, 2014 in the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp. 6 teachers and current Prefects’ Board members joined the newly-elected school prefects for leadership training. School prefects participated in exciting team building games such as dodge ball and bamboo raft construction. Through these activities, the prefects learnt the importance of cooperation in overcoming obstacles. Their confidence and determination to serve the school were also enhanced after the training.   Cherry Kwan of F.6P participated in the International on-site painting competition "Small Montmartre in Bitola 2014" held from 23rd to 29th May 2014. She received the Best Collection Team Award and the Golden Brush Award. She also participated in the International Children's Painting Competition in Hong Kong held from 25th to 30th August 2014, organized by Promotion of Young Artist Foundation.
